P is for Poetry Potluck : Fog

This is my response to this week's Poetry Potluck, which I discovered thanks to a link over at Porky's Expanse!. The theme for the week is "These Are a Few of My Favorite Things."

I stuck to the theme, at least for those values of "few" that are greater than zero and less than two. What can I say? This is what wanted to be written tonight.

Awaking to a night-born world,
the fog, in pennants fresh unfurled
that bear the standard of the fey
and wreath in shifting, soundless grey
the works of men, enchants our eyes
and warps our gaze with tendrilled lies
that sculpt the haze in dream-worked forms
that obviate our day-bound norms
and dance wherever mist is curled
until the sun unmasks the world.

  1. "until the sun unmasks the world"

nice phrase, enjoy the potluck :)

  2. Beautifully done. Much more complex than it seems at first too, and structurally does give a sense of layers and spaces covered.

  3. lovely.. my potluck..

  4. very lovely!

  5. Clever word play and great images make a lovely poem.

  6. super smart one.

    well done,

join poets rally if you wish, bless your talent.

  7. The 'until the sun unmasks the world' line gave me goosebumps. Wonderful poem.
