Expansion Joints, part 39: "Pick" / Flash Fearsday

This is my response to Part 39 of the Expansion Joints Challenge, and to the January 12th Flash Fearsday. ***************************************************************************
"Another homicidal worker?"
"Neurotoxic exposure, manual excavation methods - mining's hazardous."
"Recommendations?"
"Don't say "Pick me!""

  1. Wow again. I think about combining the two forms often enough, but I've very rarely done it, possibly just the once. The problem is of course the average word length needing to rise, but you've got that covered here, and very naturally. The short blunt words in the last line drive it all home. Another masterclass.

I really had trouble with this word, and I don't know why. I also started with mining, for the tool, but somehow moved into misunderstanding. It needs a bit of reworking then I'll post it.
